"Despicable Me"
Aidan and I went to see "Despicable Me" this week, and we both thought it was very good. It's not in the "great" category like "Toy Story 3" was, but it was definitely very cute and funny. Who wouldn't like perpetually cheerful minions, saucy orphans and an evil villain whose issues with his mother might possibly prevent him from being able to take over the world? We might see this movie again with my husband, who is a huge Steve Carrell fan, and we'll definitely be buying the DVD when it comes out.
My only concern is why it would ever occur to anyone to cast Russell Brand in a kids' movie? I know you don't see him, and you only hear his voice, but it's still difficult to cancel out the huge "ick" factor that comes into play if you think too hard about Russell Brand being involved in anything that's even remotely connected to children. Mark my words, 2-3 months after the wedding, Katy Perry is going to be on every talk show imaginable shrieking about what a freak he is and how she can't divorce him quickly enough. But she's probably a freak, too, or she wouldn't be dating and engaged to him, right?
