I was looking at the Qwest center list of shows and they have one in April called "Walking with Dinosaurs." Does anyone know what this is about?

Hi, kgreen.
Glad you asked. I recently attended a press party for "Walking with Dinosaurs: The Live Experience." From the previews, it looks like it's going to be amazing.
"Walking with Dinosaurs: The Live Experience" is a live animatronic show based upon the Emmy Award-winning BBC television series of the same name. It features fifteen life-size dinosaurs representing ten different species. Each of the larger dinosaurs has a person inside driving/operating it, as well as two additional people using remote controls. The smaller dinosaurs are played by actors wearing dinosaur suits that weigh over 50 pounds each. In spite of the human element, the dinosaurs are extremely realistic. The show is big and loud, and it will fill the arena floor.
A lone "paleontologist" is onstage throughout the production providing the audience with a narrated tour during the millenia when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Lights, sound, and music accompany the story, making the events come alive. The show is being billed as "edutainment" because it combines scientific fact with spectacle.
And, it should be spectacular. The BBC spent more than $20 million dollars and six years making the show. About 40 U.S. stops are scheduled, including the one at Omaha's Qwest Center. The Omaha show runs April 16th through April 20th. Tickets range in price from $20 to $67.
The show is supposed to be appropriate for age 3 and up. According to the show's promoters, no violence is involved. However, there are plenty of sudden movements and sudden loud noises, so you'll want to make any decision to attend with regard to how easily your child(ren) become startled or frightened.
MomsofOmaha.com will soon be posting information that will enable our visitors to receive $5 off the ticket price for weekday performances. We are also in the process of working with the show to obtain free tickets for a contest or giveaway for our members. Stay tuned for more details.

Finally a child related show that is not Sesame Street or Dora! I know both my boys will enjoy it. That $5 coupon will be nice too:)

Wow, that does sound good. How did you swing the coupon deal with the show promoters?

Hi, kgreen.
The show's promoters must have used a search engine to find us here at MomsofOmaha.com. I'm so happy that the word about us is getting out! They sent me an invitation to a press party at the Qwest Center, and they also mentioned coupons, discounts, and freebies -- all words that are dear to my heart and to those of our members. I am in the process right now of finding out what they can do for us. When everything is finalized, I'll post the details.

Update: We should have discount ticket information for this show on Monday or Tuesday. I think we'll be able to get a deal from the group sales office at Qwest for shows on April 16 - 18 (Wed - Fri). The way it's looking is that tickets for most seats will be cheaper and we'll be able to avoid the TicketMaster fees that add so much to the price of a ticket. There will be a $5 handling fee per order, but this will save quite a bit compared to the TicketMaster fee you'd otherwise pay.

The Discovery Channel is now replaying the BBC series of Walking with Dinosaurs. The animation isn't as good as a Hollywood production but the video of the live show at www.dinosaur.com (http://www.dinosaur.com) looks really good.
