Yesterday, friends told me about a place I had never heard of--Cupcake Island. It's the cutest place ever! Imagine a cookie shop but all cupcakes. I was so impressed with this little store that I wanted to pass on my find--even though I found out the store opened in Sept of '06 so many of you may already know of it.
It was my husband's birthday (how convenient) so my son and I stopped by and bought four different kinds of cupcakes for a birthday treat. We opted for two child-friendly ones with sprinkles for the kids and two more adult ones for my husband and me--red velvet and turtle, by the way. The staff was very friendly, there was a cute little box for the cupcakes, and the cupcakes were very delicious. It was a unique, fun dessert. My husband really enjoyed it (them?).
The shop sells mostly regular-sized cupcakes, but also have mini ones and a few muffins. You can also pre-order regular-sized cakes. There are a few small tables to eat in--they sell drinks as well. It is located south of Pacific off of 119th St--near Big Fred's and close to Brother Sebastian's. They have a website if you'd like to check it out: www.cupcakeisland.com.
