Has anyone used or heard of Freecycle? I read a bit about it and it seems incredible. It is a concept that has exploded around the world--the idea being to have an outlet to get and give away free stuff. There is a group in Omaha. I'd like to try it out but wanted to know if anyone knows more about it--is it legit and is it safe?. They do have a website: www.freecycle.org (http://www.freecycle.org).

Hi, MomAC.
I haven't used Freecycle myself, but I have read about it in magazines like Family Circle, Good Housekeeping, etc. It seems legit from what I've heard so far. I have some stuff that I would be glad to give away just to have it out of my house, so I might give it a try soon.

I'd like to find out about that, too. Giving stuff to Goodwill is fine, but maybe there are other options that can be useful.

I am an active member and love the concept. I have given and received items. Some examples were giving away some old sippy cups, toys, and children's clothing and I have received a couple of large rolls of raffle tickets for my school. I am all about reusing and recycling so it is a great resource for that.
It is all local people and has a website setup like a forum. People can submit an Offer, Want, or post that something has been Taken. All you need is a Yahoo account to join. I have been a member for a year or so and have never had any problems. I would recommend joining.

Thank you so much for the info. I wasn't sure if it was for larger items or all kinds of things. You have helped me decide to join.
