Anybody get a good discount from cox cable?

Cable is so expensive I can hardly beleive it. I hear sometimes that people who are good bargainers can some times get deals from the cable company by thretening to go to Direct TV. Has any one here done that? What kinds of things has Cox offered you to stay with them?

It seems Cox has a "Friends and Family" discount program. If I can remember I believe it was 3 months 1/2 off cable. Some times you can just call them and ask what promotions they are currently running. Be careful because they will charge you additional fees for installation and startup (sometimes they will waive).
