Thanks for posting this! We were at the Ft. Omaha campus earlier this year for the intra-tribal pow wow and we walked down the General Crook House, but it wasn't open. I LOVE Victorian architecture - we'll definitely have to check this out.

Hi, Bethany.

Thanks for writing. All three floors of the Crook house are decorated for the holidays, so it should be fun to see. Please write us back and let us know if you enjoyed it.

While we're on the subject of Victorian architecture and furnishings, I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that now would be a great time to visit The General Dodge House in Council Bluffs. This beautiful home is always a pleasure to visit, but even more so during the holidays, when every room is fully decked out in Victorian Christmas trimmings with themed Christmas trees in every room. I used to go there every year at Christmastime when I was young, and when I was older I'd go with my mom and then we'd have lunch together afterwards. It became one of our annual family traditions. I think I'll take Aidan this year and get him started on some of the same traditions.

The General Crook House was quite lovely! They even had a lady reading Christmas stories in the front parlor, which my daughter enjoyed. Hot cider and cookies were available, too.
