Does anyone have any suggestions as to an inexpensive and durable digital camera for a child? I've been doing some research, and Fisher Price and VTech both make a digital camera that they call "kidtough", but they are both @ $50. I've read that the quality of the pictures isn't the greatest (not that I expect to use the pictures that my child takes). So, I was wondering if anyone has an inexpensive digital camera that has stood up to a few abuses, that isn't necessarily marketed to-wards children? My only major requirement is that it has a LCD preview screen. I think that's going to be the big feature that my daughter will want. Just looking for ideas....or if anyone has one of the "kidtough" cameras, I'd like to hear how well you like them. Thanks!!

:) Hi Rumpleteazerak,
I can't give you any advice on how well these cameras work, or hold up, but here's what I found as far as deals go:
All of these deals are for Friday 11/23 (Black Friday), unless stated otherwise:
JC Penney will have a Kids Digital Camera for $18.88, and a Kids Digital Camcorder for $38.88. I don't have any other info on these items, such as the brand and tech specs (the ad scan is very poor quality). However, I do know they're 'doorbusters', and the ad I saw said JCP was opening at 4AM!!! Double-check your local JCP ad on Thursday to see what their opening time is on BF. Also, even though these are 'doorbusters' they might be available online too...check the ad.
Kohls will have 50% off all kids electronics, and this is a 'doorbuster'. Not sure what kids cameras they will have, but you might be able to save some money (even though Kohls inflates their regular prices). If you have time I would recommend checking Kohls this week to see what kids digital cameras they carry (online didn't have a lot, but that doesn't mean the stores don't have a better selection).
Now, if you decide to get a digital camera that's not a kids camera, here are some options for you:
Radio Shack will have a Sakar 5.1MP Digital Camcorder that shoots movies and still photos, has a 2" display, and SD memory slot. It's one of their 'doorbusters' and it's $79.99 - $30 mail-in rebate = $49.99. This might be worth checking out (and Radio Shack definitely won't be the madhouse that a lot of other stores are sure to be). Again, check to see if it's available to order online.
Office Depot has a Kodak EasyShare C613 6.2 MP Digital Zoom Camera on sale for $69.99 right now. You can order it online with free S&H, or get it in-store. I believe this is only on sale thru Wed 11/21:

Best Buy has a good BF deal though. You can get a bundle, which includes the Kodak C613 digital camera AND a 5.6" LCD digital photo frame for $99.99. Now, I don't think this is a high-quality digital frame, but for the money, it's not bad. This is a 'doorbuster' item though, and I don't think it'll be available online.

Kmart will also have the same Kodak C613 camera for $69.99 as one of their BF 'doorbusters'. They also have a Polaroid A801 8MP digital camera for $79.99 on Thanksgiving Day.
Hope this helps! Send me a private message or post here if you have any questions.
