Kite Runner Movie Coming Soon

The Kite Runner was a great book. The movie version is coming out November 2nd from what I hear. If it's half as good as the book, it will be well worth seeing.

It's a wonderful book with many facets to it. You learn a lot about what's happened in Afghanistan in recent years through the true experience of the author and what happened to a childhood friend from another ethnic group.

I recently read that the movie's release is being delayed due to concerns that the Afghan children who star in the movie will be harmed when the movie is shown in the Middle East. In the book, and I'm assuming, the movie, a young boy is raped by a group of boys as his friend witnesses but does nothing to help because he's too afraid. There are several groups and individuals who are working to get these child actors and their families out of Afghanistan before the movie's release. I hope they are successful. It sickens me to think that someone would harm these boys for their portrayal of characters from one of the most important books in our time, and most likely, in history.
