You may have seen 1800GotJunk when Dr. Phil did one of those home makeover shows. This company will take most any non-hazardous junk that two strong people can lift.
I spoke with a customer service rep to get more info than their website provided. Some notes:
- They serve not only Omaha but most every small town within about 30 minutes of here.
- You don't have to put things out by the curb. They will take things from within your house or yard. This doesn't cost extra.
- The cost is based totally on the amount of volume your junk takes up in one of their trucks. The website stresses that they will provide you with a free estimate. I asked for a little more clarification and was told that a quarter-truckload haul would cost $188; a half-load is about $275 and a full truckload is about $458. They do all the lifting and will clean-up, too. (You can see the size of their truck by going to their site.)
- I also asked whether they'd take gas-powered junk like an old lawnmower. The rep said yes, as long as the gas has been drained. This is something the rent-a-dumpster place I used months ago wouldn't do. They wouldn't take anything that had had gas in it.
This service is a good option to know about. You may find that renting a dumpster is cheaper a lot of the time. Still, if you just want your junk hauled away with minimal effort on your part, this could be worthwhile. BTW, the website offers $10-off for booking a haul online.
