Warren Buffett is Bringing Sexy Back

Last week, I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart to shop for a new mattress. The saleslady who was helping me said, "Oh, let me show you the Berkshire Collection." Right away, I thought of Berkshire Hathaway, but then I thought that the names were a coincidence and that there couldn't possibly be a connection. So, imagine my reaction as we rounded a corner and I looked up to see a giant poster on the wall featuring Warren Buffett himself casually reclining on a matress. I hate to admit it, but my immediate reaction was, "Yuck! Who needs to see that?!!! Isn't he about 80 years old?!!! I rarely ever think of Warren. In fact, the only time I do think about him is when all the hoopla surrounding the annual Berkshire Hathaway meeting occurs with the attendant media coverage. However, when I do think about him, the last place I want to picture him is lounging around on my mattress.

I did end up buying the Berskshire Collection mattress. I couldn't help it - it was the correct amount of firmness at a great price. I just hope that I can wipe those images of Warren out of my mind so that I don't picture him lounging around in my bed every time I walk into my bedroom. Many people consider Warren Buffett to be a genius when it comes to business and investing, so I am going to offer this suggestion humbly: If you want to sell more mattresses, get out of your own ads and find a replacement. Johnny Depp or Christian Bale might be good for starters.

I saw an interview a while back where Warren was walking through the NFM mattress department with the interviewer. He spontaneously jumped on "The Warren" model and posed just like he does in the ad. Warren has a sense of humor.
