What are you reading now? I would love to get some recommendations from others since I tend to gravitate towards the same types of books, same authors, same subject matter, etc.

If you are looking for something to read, I can recommend some excellent books.

I recently finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini who also wrote The Kite Runner. I highly recommend both books. A Thousand Splendid Suns takes place in Afghanistan during the Russian invasion and during the Taliban's rise to power. It's about the relationship between two women, one older and one younger, who are married to the same cruel, abusive man. At first they share a lot of misunderstanding and resentment, but eventually they learn to rely on and help one another. Their friendship sustains them even when the world around them is being torn apart. It's the most extraordinary book I've ever read about friendship between women.

The Kite Runner is also extraordinary. It's also set in Afghanistan during the same time period as A Thousand Splendid Suns, and it's also about friendship, but this time, it's about two boys who grew up together. One of the boys is wealthy and somewhat spoiled, and the other is his servant. The book follows them from childhood to adulthood.

After I read The Kite Runner, which I would definitely include in my list of all-time favorites, I didn't believe that A Thousand Splendid Suns could be as good, but it is.

I just started reading The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. It's a historical novel set in Tudor England during the reign of King Henry VIII, and it's about Mary Boleyn, the sister of Anne Boleyn. It's very good so far. It's exciting, and it's so rich in detail that you feel like you really are being transported in time. The author has a whole series of books about Henry VIII's wives, and I'm sure I'll be reading all of them.
