I'm pretty new to town - originally from Minneapolis - and I'm still finding my way around what's available for families here. Someone told me that the Lincoln Childrens Museum is worth a trip. I've been to the one in Omaha already. Is the one in Lincoln worth a visit?

Hi Lynne,

Welcome to the Forums. My son absolutley loves the Lincoln Childrens Museum. It is so cool and well worth the drive to Lincoln. The Museum seems bigger than the one in Omaha, but that may be because there are a lot more fun activities for kids. The little boys who visit really like the astronaut and spaceship area, where they get to dress up like astronauts, go into a rocket and have a simulated blast-off.

Other cool activities are a prairie dog town where kids go through tunnels; a pizza parlor; and a vet's office. There's a lot to do there, and I especially like that this Museum is clean and well-maintained. I got really tired of how many broken things there are at the Omaha Children's Museum and we've stopped going there. Here's a link to the Lincoln Children's Museum: www.lincolnchildrensmuseum.org (http://www.lincolnchildrensmuseum.org)

I agree. The Lincoln chldrens museum beats the one in Omaha by a mile. I like the zoo down there a lot, too. Henry Doorly is a world class zoo, but the one in Lincoln is designed for kids and is really easy to get around - not all the hills that the Omaha Zoo has. Here's a link I found: www.lincolnzoo.org (http://www.lincolnzoo.org).

Lincoln has some really good attractions for kids and families. The Zoo is a lot of fun for kids and not so hard on parents who may have to haul them around. Speaking of the Zoo, it's in the middle of Antelope Park there, which is a wonderful park with great equipment. You could make a nice day of it visiting the Zoo and playing in the park. I think you get a discount on admission if you're already a member of the Omaha Zoo.
